Mike Adams Feels Bad For “Stealing” Phillies Money

Mike Adams signed with the Phillies in 2013 on a two-year deal and an option for a third for 13 million. He had big hopes of helping the Phillies bullpen woes. That obviously did not happen. Adams has been pretty much damaged since he signed with the team.

The crazy thing about Adams is he feels bad for his inconsistency due to shoulder issues. He feels like he’s cheated the team. “When I signed here two years ago, I expected a lot more than what I’ve done,” Adams said. “There probably isn’t anyone more disappointed by the situation than myself. I proclaimed it would be a good three-year deal, and obviously it hasn’t worked out that way. I said I didn’t want to steal money, and that’s exactly what happened.”
I got to give this guy a hand. I think he is the first Phillies player to very adamantly admit that he didn’t become what the team thought. He seems genuinely upset with his lack of relevancy.

Adams has made 47 appearances in two years. He should have made about 60 appearances per year, and that’s being generous. Mike hopes to be back in action for the Phillies come September. He has started a rehab stint in Triple-A Lehigh as of this week.

I’m glad he feels some compassion. With some of the players on the team, cough, cough Ryan Howard, its nice to see someone admitting that they didn’t add up. Honestly, with the team they have right now, I don’t think he would made much of a difference. I will say If he feels that bad, he can gladly give some green back to the team.   Do you think we could get either of them to pay some money back? Yeah, didn’t think so.
